Exhausted! (Day 121)

Between revision, work and exams I have little time for anything else.

Fighting becomes difficult when you're this exhausted. Staying motivated and trying to succeed have become the only thing I can think about at the moment. It's times like these that I realise how difficult life has become and how it is not going to get any easier.

Image from pinterest

However, I'm slowly learning how to ride out the storm. I'm learning how to keep on fighting even when I am extremely exhausted. I think that's what life is about, learning how to ride the storm.

Dinner For One (Day 120)

My families away which means I'm fending for myself.

Cooking for one is always something I find really tricky. When it's only me eating, I find I can't really be bothered to cook anything too complicated, I tend to stick to the basics. One of my favourites is tuna pasta.

It's easy, all I do is boil some pasta, drain it and then throw in some chopped vegetables like peppers, onions and tomato, add some tuna and then mix in some mayo. It's so simple but so tasty. I always end up making too much but that means I have lunch or dinner for the next day too. I think pasta is one of my favourite foods just because of how versatile it is.

I do love pasta!

Revision Snack Ideas! (Day 119)

Revising is hard work.

With exams looming, staying motivated is hard work. Revision isn't the most interesting thing and when I'm bored I tend to get hungry. Snacking while revising helps me to stay motivated and gives me something to work for. I thought I'd share some of my favourite things to much on whilst I've got my head in the books.

1. Carrot sticks

This sounds ridiculous but I absolutely love raw carrot sticks. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but they are genuinely one of my favourite foods. There also pretty guilt free which definitely makes them a healthy option.

2. Popcorn

I absolutely love popcorn. I always find myself reaching for it when I need a little snack. I love getting it in the little packets as I know I definitely won't eat to much.

3. COOKIES

By far the most unhealthiest of all the snacks I love are cookies. Sometimes if I hit a really hard topic, a cookies my reward. I've been loving these ones from Aldi recently.

Pinterest Fail! (Day 118)

When I'm revising, I like to have something to snack on.

Is it just me who likes to have something to munch on when my heads stuck in the books? I think it's the boredom of trying to get my head around the different psychological theories that I need to know. Now, I'm fully aware summers coming up so I've been trying to find healthier ways to snack. So, naturally, I turned to pinterest. After searching for healthy snack I stumbled across this recipe for baked cinnamon apple chips, they looked super easy so I ran to Tesco, bought some apples and gave it a shot.

All you have to do is core and chop the apples into fine rings, put them on a lined baking tray, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and then bake at 200 degrees fahrenheit for 2 hours. Now this is where I went really, really wrong. I read it as 200 degrees celcius so mine were a little burnt. I went to check them after about 40 minutes and decided that was probably the time to remove them.

So mine aren't exactly pinterest worthy! However they taste pretty great. They're just sweet enough and some of them have crisped up really, really well.

All things considered, I would definitely make these again, I'd just maybe change the degrees I cooked them at this time!

Missing Disney! (Day 117)

With exams looming, I am really missing being in the happiest place on earth.

I think Disney is just a place to forget about your worries and your strife (sorry it had to be done!) and I really could use that right now. Looking back on all my photos makes me realise just how much I miss it. These are some of my favourites...

I just want to go back!

Stressing Out! (Day 116)

It's that time of year again!

Exams and deadlines are looming and I'm well and truly swamped! I feel like I currently have the weight of the world on my shoulders and the pressure really is on. Stress can do funny things to people. For me I get cranky and upset. I also tend to get ill which really makes me more stressed.

Image from here

I've been dealing with the stress and anxiety that comes with this time of year for a while and I've come to learn that balance is key. You can sit and revise all day everyday but you will never take it all in, you need to make sure you have some fun time as well. I tend to reward myself with chocolate or going to meet a friend. It gives you a well earned break and allows you to feel normal again. However what I think is most important is sleep. It's so tempting to just cram all night but that will not help. When you sleep, the information you have taken in can process. My brain does not function well without sleep so for me getting my rest is really important.

Just remember to take it all one step at a time.

Spot Update! (Day 115)

They've still not gone.

About a week ago, I wrote a post on how I am using the Clearasil Rapid Action Pads to wage a war against spots (read the post here).

My first impressions were not that great and they did not really get that much better. The product promised visibly clearer skin in 4 hours, which just was not the case. It's been a week and I'm still not clear skinned. Worse than that I am getting new spots at just the same rate as I was before using the product. However, I have noticed that there has been a reduction in the redness of my spots which is definitely a pro of the product.

All in all, I think I'm going to continue with the product because I feel like it might work if I give it time. I'm hoping for the best.

My Skin Care Routine (Day 114)

A good skin care routine is vital for maintaining healthy skin! I thought I'd give you all a run down of the products I use on a daily basis...

1. I remove my eye make- up with the Simple eye makeup remover on a cotton wool pad. I just wipe it all over my eyes and it's done.

2. I then cleanse my face with the Simple purifying cleansing lotion.

3. I then follow up with the Simple Toner.

4. After that, I take care of my spots by using the Clearasil Rapid Action Pads.

5. I then finish off with the Simple light moisturiser.

And there you have it, how I keep on top of my skin!

Grabbing a Bargain! (Day 113)

I absolutely love a bargain!

I popped into Newlook today and they had a sale on and I've never been so excited. There was a lot of good stuff but the Newlook I was in was pretty small so there weren't a whole lot of sizes. I did however manage to get a couple of bits that I thought I'd show you.

Firstly, I got this white shirt dress with black stripes. As I'm short it comes down to my knees which I'm fine with. I love the tie around the waist as it really helps to shape me and show off my waist. It also has the roll up sleeves which are something I really love in shirts as they don't get in the way. I think this will look really cute with some black tights and some black chunky heeled boots for those days when you need to dress up a little bit more. The best bit... It was only £9!

The other thing I got was a pair of jeans. Recently, pretty much all of my jeans have gone baggy and so I've been needing to replace them. However jeans are seriously expensive. I'm always looking in the sales in the hope that I'll find a bargain. I found these ones for £15 and I love them. They are a lightish denim with a rip knee. Now normally I like to go for high waisted jeans, these are mid- rise and to be honest I'm cool with it. They fit really well and really help my figure. I'm really chuffed with them. They will be great for everyday life and I think they will be very easy to dress up or down.

I do love a good bargain!

Soap and Glory Heel Genius Review (Day 112)

Confession time...

I have the world's ugliest feet and it's really not helped by my heels. I have really bad skin on my heels. It's dried and cracked and really unappealing. Nothing seems to work on them either. As it's coming into the summer season and I'm getting ready to wear sandals I figured now is the time to sort the problem out. I absolutely love Soap and Glory and I figured there products work on my hands, so why wouldn't it work on my feet?

It really does work! I've only been using it for a few days but I'm already noticing a difference. The product itself is like a mint green paste that you just smoother on your feet before bed and then put cotton socks over the top. As soon as you put it on, it's almost like I can feel the skin on my feet heeling. When I wake up in the morning, my feet are so soft and just feel healthier. They are also starting to look a lot better and appear less cracked and damaged. The tube will also last for ages. As the product is so thick, a little bit goes a very long way so I know I won't have to  re- purchase any time soon. However when I do, it's only £5.50 in Boots so I know it's really not going to break the bank.

Hopefully they will look amazing for summer!

The Jungle Book Review (Day 111)

One of my fondest childhood memories is watching the Jungle Book.

I remember countless days sat at my Grandparents house watching the Jungle Book on VHS as it was one of the only kids films they had. That's why I was so excited that they were remaking it. I really liked the new one. Let me start by saying that Neel Sethi made the PERFECT Mowgli. It must have been so hard for an actor of that age to work with all the technology that must of gone into making the Jungle Book but he made it look effortless. Also the entire film was visually stunning. Everything was so realistic looking and the animation was seamless. It was everything I could of imagined and more.

Everything was done to perfection. I absolutely loved the fact they kept some of the songs and how they worked them into the film and Baloo (voiced by Bill Murray) was seriously amazing. Baloo was always my childhood favourite character and the new version captured him perfectly. So, although I don't think The Jungle Book quite lived up to the hype that's been surrounding it, it was pretty amazing and I would definitely go and see it again.

I love being reminded of my childhood!

What Would Blair Waldorf Do? (Day 110)

Blair Waldorf is basically everything I dream of being in this world!

If you haven't ever watched Gossip Girl (Where have you been?) then let me give you a quick run- down. Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) is one of the lead roles in the series Gossip Girl. Not only does she live a dream life in New York City with all the money she could ever want, she's got something about her! Blair is strong, independent but able to admit she needs someone and that is seriously someone I can relate to. More than that she attacks everything she does with confidence, every decision she makes and every action she completes, she is certain of.

That's why I think this question is important to me. If I'm ever uncertain about anything in life, by asking myself what would Blair Waldorf do? I know I just need to strap on my favourite pair of heels, dress like I'm going to run into my ex and just attack the problem head on. I know that I need to not doubt myself and just go!

Also I REALLY need to get myself a Chuck Bass.

Soap and Glory Clean, Girls Body Wash Review (Day 109)

Who doesn't like to feel fresh?

I feel like a good body wash is an essential part of a daily routine. I really love my shower time. It gives me time to reflect on my life! I do all my best thinking in the shower. I like to indulge my skin and use products that are going to keep my skin healthy and fresh.

I love Soap and Glory! They are one of my all time favourite brands and I know I can count on their products. I have used their body washes before but I've never used this one. The Clean, Girls body wash is great for keeping skin soft. It really moisturises skin and keeps it feeling great. It also smells great. It's a really clean scent. It smells strongly of vanilla with hints of musk. I really, really love it.

Soap and Glory is always a winner in my eyes.

Soap and Glory Hand Food Review (Day 108)

One of my biggest problems is what I like to call my cleaners hands.

Now, I've mentioned this before on here but I have a part time job to help me get through university and basically I'm a glorified cleaner. I have to clean in a fast food restaurant and I won't lie it's pretty disgusting. The worst thing is though, I use that many chemicals without any gloves. My boss is a little obsessed with cost cutting and the gloves were pretty much the first to go which means I am constantly handling harsh chemicals with my hands. The chemicals I use strip my hands of all moisture and leave them so so dry.

I'm constantly on the look out for hand cream that will fix my dry skin. Hand food by Soap and Glory is by far one of my all time favourites. Although not the cheapest product, it is a product I swear by. It smells gorgeous first of all but it really helps my skin. It heals my hands and helps replenish the moisture that I loose when I'm at work. I really love it!

Clearasil Rapid Action Pads- First Impressions (Day 107)

I'm officially starting the war against my acne!

I've had severe acne pretty much since I hit puberty. Sometimes it's fine and my skin is pretty clear but I have the worst breakout. I'm having a crap skin week at the minute and to be honest, it makes me feel awful. I think people don't realise how much having problem skin can knock your self confidence. I hate my skin when it flares up, it makes me want to hide away but I know I can't. Over the years, I've learnt to deal with my spots and not let them get me down but its time to really do something about it.

I found these Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Pads in Boots for about £3.00 the other day and thought they might do the job. I remember using a product like this a few years ago and it did help so I thought it would be worth a go. You just take one pad and use it morning and night and wipe it all over your skin. The product claims to reduce the appearance of spots in 4 hours.

Now I've only been using this product for two days so I thought I'd do kind of a first impressions of the product and then do a follow up review after a couple of weeks. I've been using the product as stated, once in the morning and once at night after I've removed my makeup. Now to be honest I haven't yet noticed a difference in my skin but I think it might need time. What I do know is that it really stings. Any open cuts that this gets in burn, which I can only imagine is a good thing for my skin. The smell of them even makes my eyes sting!

All in all, I don't know if these will work, I'm sceptical but I'm going to carry on. I'll let you know how I get on.

Treasuring The Memories (Day 106)

I've decided to make a pact!

I've decided to start developing my photos. In recent years, everything is digital! You take the photos on your phone or camera and then upload it to a laptop. However what happens if you loose the photos from your computer. You have no way of holding on to all your memories.

I bought this photo album from Paper chase the other day and I've decided to make it a tradition. Every time I go on a trip or do something exciting, I'm going to make an album and choose some of my absolute favourites to hold onto and treasure.

I'm excited to go back to basics and I can't wait to have all my memories together.

New York Dreaming! (Day 105)

A few years ago me and my family went to New York and I fell in love!

The sights, the smells, the sounds! It's all so amazing. It's strange but I loved how tiny it made me feel. Staring up at the buildings and looking out into the crowds of people made me realise how minuscule my problems were in relation to the world around me.

It's been nearly 2 years since that first trip and recently I've been dying to go back. I've even been looking at hotels. Obviously if I were to go back, I'd need to do it for as little as possible so the money saving tips are coming out again.

Who knows maybe my dream will come true!

I'll keep you updated.

Disneyland Paris Money Saving Tips (104)

Disney is expensive! If you want to go, you have to pay the price.

However, there are a few things you can do to minimise costs. These are some of the tips that helped me and my friend save ourselves a few pounds when we went and they might help you.

1. Look at partner hotels.

Partner hotels tend to be a cheaper alternative to the Disney hotels but they are pretty much the same thing. The partner hotels are officially endorsed by Disney and can be booked through the Disney website (although this tends to be more expensive, try websites like booking.com instead!). We stayed at the Hotel Kyriad which was definitely the cheapest option! We loved it as the room was clean with comfy beds, there was plenty of hot water and free wifi (something which the Disney hotels don't have). All the partner hotels have free shuttle buses to the parks as well which run about every 15 minutes until midnight!

2. Plan ahead.

Whether you are staying on Disney property or not, if you are flying into Paris, plan how you are going to get from the airport to the hotel. Disney is about 40 minutes drive from Charles De Gaulle airport and taxis can be really expensive in Paris. By planning ahead we found a company called shuttles direct which offered a shared shuttle bus service for around £15 per person per way. The shared shuttle meant we should of been sharing with other customers but we got the whole shuttle to ourselves both ways and were not charged extra. We definitely saved a lot of money here.

3. Fill up on breakfast.

Most of the hotels associated with Disney offer all you can eat breakfasts for a set cost. It's worth looking into. We paid about £30 extra for breakfast for 4 mornings for the two of us and it was a life saver. They had a huge range of food which we could fill up on (they also had gluten free options for my friends who has coeliac disease). We found by doing this, we could just take some snacks with us to munch on throughout the day and then we had a proper meal at around 3 or 4 o'clock. That way the restaurants are a bit quieter as well.

4. Water bottles.

Water is so expensive in the parks. A bottle of water in the parks is over 4 euros which is ridiculous but when you are out all day you need to stay hydrated. We found that by using our water bottles that we had bought at the airport in the UK and filling them up in the morning before we left the hotel we saved some money. We normally had a drink with our dinner anyway so we found we were only ever buying maybe one extra drink a day. We just used tap water and some of the squeezy cordial that we had bought with us and it worked really well. There were water fountains around the park but none of them worked so I wouldn't count on being able to access water.

All in all, we had an amazing time and we are already planning to go back. Disney is possible on a budget, you just need to do the research.

Rimmel 'Colour Rush' Review (Day 103)

I love a new lipstick!

I was out shopping the other day and I wanted to find some summer shades to really brighten my look. I found this Rimmel Colour Rush lip crayon in shade 210 'Boom Chic A Boom' as I loved how vibrant it is. It's a bright fuchsia pink colour that is really bright. It looks really fun and summery, which I love. I love lip crayons like this as they are super easy to apply to the lips as you have all the control over it. It is also long lasting in wear. It probably lasts around 4 hours before it needs a touch up which is amazing for a drug store lip product.

I really love it.

Rimmel 'The Only 1' Lipstick Review (Day 102)

I'm really starting to get ready for Summer!

I've been keeping my eyes peeled  for more vibrant shades of lipstick to really brighten my lips. I find that lipstick can really take a look through seasons and change the feel of my outfit. I found this Rimmel one in Boots the other day and I really like it. It's a vibrant pink shade that is definitely summery. I've also found it wears well. It lasts for a fair few hours without any sign of wear. My only complaint is that it's a bit of a pain to apply. It doesn't really take well to any moisture on the lips making it a nightmare to apply evenly but once you get it right your all set to go.

The Perfect Foundation (Day 101)

Finding the perfect foundation is a daily struggle.

I have really pale skin, I always have and always will. It makes finding the perfect shade in makeup really tricky. Everything is way to dark for me and sends me orange, until I found that Rimmel had a secret. I've always used the Rimmel wake me up foundation  in 100 'Ivory' but it's never been the right match. By the time I'd blended it so I didn't look like one of those little orange men from Charlie and the Chocolate factory, it barely left me with any coverage. However in Boots the other day, I discovered a lighter shade of the same foundation, shade 010 'Light Porcelain'. I love it. It has all the original properties of the Rimmel Wake me up foundation but is actually the right match for my skin.

I couldn't be happier!

100 Posts (Day 100)

I DID IT!

I made it to 100 posts. I can't believe it to be honest. I feel like I've come so far but still have so far to go.

It's really strange to look back and realise what I have achieved in 100 days. There have been lots of moments I've documented but there are a few more memorable than others!

I went to see Tori Kelly live...

I went to Disneyland Paris...

And wrote plenty of reviews!

I can't wait for the next 100 days.

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil (Day 99)

I'M FINALLY FEELING KIND OF HEALTHY AGAIN!

By that I mean, I can actually stand up for more than two minutes without passing out. Onwards and upwards I guess.

Now I thought I'd tell you all about my go to eyebrow product for when I really can't be bothered. I have really strangely coloured eyebrows. They're like a greyish brown and strangely enough there aren't many products for this. Therefore I tend to do hazel shades and they seem to work and blend the best into my natural colour.

This pencil is super easy to use. I try to do mine in little strokes throughout my eyebrows to make them look more natural and less 'drawn on'. I do really like it. It's really easy to apply and the colour blends nicely. It's also super affordable and lasts for so long.

All in all, it's a staple.

My Disney Ears (Day 96)

I collect Disney ears!

I know it sounds weird but every time I go to Disney I buy a new pair. I think it's a really nice memento and something to remember it by.

The first pair I ever bought was from Disneyland Paris when I was around 9 years old. It was the first time I had ever had a Disney experience. I was a sucker for a flashing light so Mickey Mouse ears that light up were perfect for me.

I then bought these from Disney world in Florida. I went for the fancy pair over the typical ones and I love the Victorian Minnie Mouse feel to these.

Now these are my final pair from my most recent trip to Paris. I have wanted some standard Minnie ears for a while so I went for the typical pair with a bow on. I think they are really sweet.

My Top 5 Disneyland Paris Rides (Day 95)

I love the rides at Disneyland, I could spend all day going on the same ones over and over again. I thought that I'd give you a run down of my all time favourite Disneyland Paris rides that I just have to do when I get to the resort.

1. Big Thunder Mountain

Big Thunder Mountain will always be my favourite Disney ride! It is such a fun roller coaster and I could go on it time and time again. I was so sad it was shut this time and I couldn't go on it. I can't wait to go back when it re- opens.

2. Crush's Coaster

I'm pretty sure this one is unique to Disneyland Paris. There is always a huge queue but it is totally worth it. You sit in a turtle shell and fly through the deep sea on an adventure with Crush and his friends. It's so good and I think even little kids would love it. The only downside is the wait times. You can't fast pass it so you're pretty much doomed to wait an hour for it.

3. The Mad Hatter's Tea Cups

The teacups are one of my favourites at any amusement park but Alice in Wonderland themed ones are thirty times better. I love all the pastel colours, the lanterns and the Alice in Wonderland songs. The best thing is the view of Fantasy Land as you spin, it's so magical.

4. Space Mountain

I really love Space Mountain. It's so fun as you feel like you're in a real rocket flying through the sky, especially if you get to ride on the front row. The best thing is, the queue is normally pretty short so you can do it over and over again.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favourite films and I really love the ride too. It's a nice break from all the big rides and is a lovely boat ride. It always reminds me of the Shaytards (if you watch you will know why).

Packing My In Flight Bag (Day 94)

Having the essentials on a flight is necessary.

I always like to take a backpack with me when travelling. I like that it's easy to just throw it on my back and not have to bother with it. For the plane ride to Paris I'm going to use my Alice in Wonderland backpack which I will also be using in the parks just to minimize my packing.

1. Firstly, when travelling I always like to have a hoodie with me. Planes are normally quite cold so it's nice to have something really comfortable to just throw on and snuggle up in.

2. I then obviously pack my phone and iPad. I like to stay entertained so I always make sure I have films, music and apps downloaded so I will always have something to do. With that I always have my earphones so I can block out the rest of the world.

3. I always pack some essential bits that I know I will need. For example I pack some Vaseline, pain killers, hair ties and tissues just so I'm prepared for every occasion.

4. English money is something I feel a lot of people forget. You will probably need some money at the airport and it's easy to forget that and just bring Euros so I always make sure I have some cash on me.

5. A folder with important documents in is essential. Things like travel insurance, passports and documents for the flight are all things you are going to need so having them all in one place and easy to access is essential.

So these are my packing essentials. I just hope I don't forget anything.

March Favourites (Day 93)

I can't believe it's this time already. It only feels like minutes since I did my February favourites and now it's the end of March. So let's get cracking!

1. Make- up
I have been loving the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil this month. To be honest it's been a favourite of mine for quite some time but I feel like I've been reaching for it more and more this month. I like that the shade 'Hazel' is a really good match for my eyebrow colour and it's super easy to apply.

2. Music

This month I have been replaying 'I know What You Did Last Summer' by Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello over and over again! I absolutely can't get enough of it. I think I'm starting to get ready for summer with the music I've been listening too.

3. Beauty

Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume has been a favourite of mine all year but this month I've pretty much worn it daily. I love that I have the travel size one as it's so easy to just throw in my handbag and give myself a spritz when I need it.

4. Miscellaneous

Now I think we all know what I'm going to say here... that's right... DISNEYLAND PARIS! Honestly how could it not be. So yeah this month I spent three days in Disneyland Paris with my best friend. It was the most magical time and I had so much fun (I won't dwell on this, you can read all about it on the blog).

5. Shop
I haven't really done a lot of shopping this month. With Disney being this month and my work being shut, I've been really careful with my money. However I did buy a couple of things from Boohoo which I have been loving and wore all the time in Disney so thought they were definitely worth a mention. They have some really lovely stuff in at the moment so go check them out.

Disneyland Paris Haul (Day 92)

Now of course, I was in Disneyland Paris so naturally I did some serious Disney damage. To be honest, I really thought I'd end up buying more than I did but it's a good job I didn't as we ran out of room in the case. Now I did get some presents for people but I've already given then away so I haven't got them to show you so I'm just going to show you what I bought for me!

So first of all I bought my Minnie Mouse ears. Now I like to collect Disney ears from each trip I take but I've never had just the traditional Minnie Mouse ears so I really, really wanted a pair and knew I would be picking these up when I went this time. These were around 13 euros but they are totally worth it and a Disney necessity.

Next I bought this little tiny Tinkerbell key ring. They had a tonne of different Princesses in this kind of cute cartoon style. I really wanted a Rapunzel or a Merida but it seemed that they only had the traditional princesses and of course Tinkerbell so I thought I would go with her. I love this and it's going to look great on my keys. I think this was around 6 euros.

I then continued with my Tinkerbell theme and bought this lanyard. Now we were there for their Swing into Spring festival so I had to get something to commemorate it. I've been needing a lanyard for my Uni ID cards since the start of the year and just haven't got round to buying one so when I saw this, I couldn't resist. I think this was about 10 euros.

Now this next thing I have wanted since I went to Florida in 2012. If you have ever been to Disney World in Florida you may have seen a little stall that sells food outside of the Buzz Lightyear ride that has 3 giant Toy Story aliens on top of the roof (I have no idea if it's still there). Me and my Dad had a joke about how he was going to fly one back to the UK for me. I really wanted a little cuddly alien as it always makes me think of that time but I never picked one up in Florida so I was determined to get one in Paris. He was 20 euros and has lovingly been named Allen by my sister and cousins.

Now the final thing I bought was the thing that caused us the most packing drama just because of how big he is. I got a Sully pillow pet. He's a big cuddly Sully that folds out into a cushion and I honestly think I'm in love with him. I wasn't going to get him because I have no use for him but I couldn't leave him there. He was 30 euros so by far the most expensive thing I bought but honestly he's so cuddly, he just had to come home with me.

So there you have it, my Disney haul!

Talk to you tomorrow, Chloe xx
