Chocolate Makeup! (Day 136)

I absolutely love chocolate! It is my absolute favourite food, I will eat anything with chocolate in. I also love makeup, the ability to change an alter your appearance has always fascinated me so when I came across the love child of the two in Superdrug recently I had to give it a shot.

Let me start by saying that I was very sceptical of this product. It is by the brand 'I heart makeup' which I believe is a Superdrug own brand and one that I had never heard of before. It was only really because of the packaging that I bought this palette. It literally looks like a bar of white chocolate.

I also loved that the palette was full of really natural looking colours as they are my go tos for everyday eye makeup. The best thing is all of the colours are chocolate themed such as 'Wonka' and 'Sweet Shop' and the palette actually smells like chocolate which is really cool. As for the eye shadows themselves, they are actually pretty good. The colours are quite pigmented and apply really easily. They are more cream than powder but this allows them to blend with one another when they are on the eyelid. The colours blend really nicely and are easy to build until you achieve your desired look. My only problem with the eyeshadow is that it really doesn't last all day. It tends to wear off and go patchy, however I am going to try using a primer under it to see if that helps! For only £7.99, I really can't complain.

Neutrogena 'Visibly Clear CC Cream' Review (Day 135)

Spots are honestly the bain of my life. I've had severe acne ever since I was around 13 years old. I'm always using makeup to cover my skin and to help my skin tone appear more even and less red but I always worry about it clogging up my pores and ultimately making my skin 100 times worse.

That's why I got pretty excited when I saw an advert for this new Neutrogena CC cream. I have used Neutrogena before to try and clear my spots and it always helps so I had to try this. The idea is that it covers the spots but also works to correct them and is meant to help keeps spots away. Now I'm not a huge fan of BB/CC creams as I really don't feel like they offer enough coverage for my skin but for only £6.99 I though it was worth a shot.

Honestly, I was really surprised. The coverage is pretty good. It's not quite what a foundation would give you but it does cover the majority of my blemishes and evens out my skin tone making it appear more consistent in colour. I was even more shocked the shade 'light' actually matched my skin tone.  I always struggle to find products light enough for my skin but this is pretty much perfect. In terms of the treatment of spots, it definitely does help. I notice that if I wear this for a couple of days in a row my spots already appear much less red. I think if I wore this product daily then I would notice a massive difference in my skin.

Overall this product really surpassed my expectations. I really like it and will definitely continue using it.

Quietly Confident (Day 134)

I've always been described as quietly confident!

Ever since I was little, this is what my teachers would say to parents and not a lot has really changed. I got told the same thing today at a training day and honestly, it confuses me. I just don't get it. It's kind of like people make this assumption about you, they assume you're to scared to voice what you know and they believe that you actually know what you're doing. Nobody really understands what makes me 'quietly confident' and neither do I to be honest with you. It's just me and I don't really get why it's bad if I'm honest. Sometimes if I'm in a situation with people who are very confident and are happy to communicate and answer questions, I struggle to get a word in edgeways. I don't want to be rude and interrupt them or talk over someone else. Does that make me quietly confident?

Image from: pinterest

Personally, I don't see it a s always being a bad thing. You're the person nobody really expects anything from, the person everyone just forgets about but you're confident and one day that confidence will shine through. It's kind of like a sneak attack, no- one expects it but everyone will know when it happens.

Ready for Adventure (Day 133)

I love a good adventure.

I feel like I'm really not made to stay in one place, I need to constantly see and experience new things. I go a little bit stir crazy if I'm stuck inside all day, which is what I am at the minute with exams well under way.

I can't wait for the summer so I can go on new adventures and see the world. I can't wait, I have so many exciting things planned and I'm just counting down the days.

I'll be on a plane soon!

The Best Disney Songs (Day 132)

I feel like I haven't done a Disney post for a while so I thought it's about time I changed that. Now we all know, I absolutely love Disney. There's nothing I love more than escaping to a Disney film or better yet, a Disney theme park when I'm feeling stressed out or down. However sometimes, I don't really have time for a full Disney film and I definitely don't have any plans to go back to Disneyland yet (sad face), so I've been listening to a lot of Disney songs recently. Sometimes if I wake up in the morning I just need a bit of a boost, I'll play some Disney songs and I instantly feel happier.

Disney songs really allow me to go back to a happier place. They remind me of days spent watching the films, Disney movie marathons with my friends and of course my trips to the Disney parks. I do have some I love more than others though. These are some of my all time favourites.

1. My FAVOURITE Disney song is 'Touch the Sky' from 'Brave'. I fell in love with Brave on my most recent trip to Disneyland Paris and I've been obsessed with everything Merida ever since. Listening to 'Touch the Sky' takes me back to watching Disney Dreams on Main Street USA in a slightly chilly Paris. The Brave part is my absolute favourite bit of the fireworks and the song just makes me so happy. The lyrics are also so amazing. I love that the film promotes the idea of being strong, independant and still able to reach your dreams.

2. My second favourite song is definitely a Disneyland favourite. One of my absolute favourite Disney rides ever is the Pirate's of the Caribbean ride. It's one I've always done and one in which I have the fondest memories of. 'Pirate's life for me' is played not only on the ride and in the ride queue but it is often played around the parks as well. I don't know there's just something about the dark and dingy boat ride that I just love. Even the damp smell doesn't put me off.

3. Last but by no means least, it has to be 'You've Got a Friend in me' from 'Toy Story'. This was one of my absolute favourite films growing up. I remember spending many afternoons curled up with my Dad making me watch Toy Story (he absolutely loves it), I guess I kind of learned to love it. The opening titles with the song and the clouds just feels so, so familiar to me. It makes me feel so safe and happy and takes me back to them days with my Dad. I'll always love it.

Disney will always hold a special place in my heart.

Summer Primark Shop!- The Other Pair of Shorts (131)

This post follows on from one written a few days ago, if you've not read it, click here.

Now I know I've already banged on about how much I loved the shorts  I bought from Primark but guess what, there was another pair. When I found the first pair of shorts there were about 15 or so pairs of the same style of shorts just in different patterns. I found these ones and loved them, there was no way I could leave them.

At £4, these floral shorts are definitely going to see me through the summer months. These black shorts have such a brightly coloured floral pattern on with vibrant reds, royal blues and bright whites. I think my favourite thing about them though is the detailing.

These shorts have a black, pom- pom sort of edging around the bottom of as well as down the sides to give a kind of pocket effect. They have an elasticated waist with a tassel tie that complements the design of the shorts perfectly. Despite these shorts being quite thin, I know on holiday with a slogan tee, these will look super cute and keep me nice and cool.

Finally, we have reached the end of our Primark adventure.

Until the next time...

Summer Primark Shop!- The Disney (130)

This post follows on from one written a few days ago, go and read that post here.

Now we all know, I can't go into Primark and not buy something from their character range. Primark have the best character things from, Disney to Harry Potter to F.R.I.E.N.D.S and I want it all. It is all so lovely and and fulfills my fan- girls dreams. I used to absolutely love all of the Disney stuff but I've found on my last few trips, I've just not really liked any of it, that was until this time. Primark have done a re- stock and I love most of the stuff they had.

In the end I settled on this jungle book vest top. It's just a plain white vest with the Jungle book print on the front. This vest top was £7 and I think I will wear it so much in the summer months tucked into some patterned shorts.

The print on it is gorgeous. It features Mowgli and Baloo and the quote 'I wanna be like you!'. You can't tell from the picture but Baloo's belly is actually glittery which just makes me love this even more. I can't wait for the summer so I can wear this.

Summer Primark Shop!- The Sandals (129)

This post follow on from one written a few days ago, so if you have not read it click here.

When I went to Primark the other day, I was looking for some summery shoes. I seem to only have boots or sandals so I wanted a pair of shoes that would keep my feet warm but not as warm as a pair of boots would. I failed! I didn't manage to find any shoes that I liked but I did find yet another pair of sandals. Now I spotted these on their own  among some of the shoes and I instantly fell in love, however they weren't in my size so I kind of gave up hope. However, I found the rail with all of them on and immediately knew I had to get them.

I am absolutely in love with them. They are flip flop style but the straps sit right at the top of the foot so they stay on really well. The colours don't really show up all that well in this photo but they are so bright. They are full of neon pinks, greens and blues that are so bright and colourful. Now I don't think they are going to be the comfiest shoes in the world but I think wearing them with a dress or playsuit for an evening out in the summer will be fine. They were only £10 and I feel like I am going to get so much wear out of them.

Summer Primark Shop!- The T- shirt (128)

This post continues from yesterday's, so if you've not read it click here!

Basic T- Shirts are something I do not have enough of. I always seem to go for the statement pieces which is great until you want something that can work with everything. I'm making a conscious effort to try and buy more basic pieces in order to build up the staples in my wardrobe. When I was in Primark the other day, they had so many slogan t- shirts, I honestly could of bought them all. Despite my temptation, I controlled myself and went for just one of them (although I can't promise that I won't go back for some more).

I really loved this basic white one. I thought this would be perfect to go with anything and everything, whether shorts in the summer or just my regular jeans on lazy day, I thought this would look really cute.

I also really liked the little applique detailing on it. It's just a little black love heart with the words 'In Your Dreams' inside and I just adds that it adds a little something extra to the t- shirt.

I really didn't think I would like the fit of this T- Shirt as the material felt quite clingy but it is actually really lovely. It's quite loose and is actually pretty flattering when it's on. I will say that it is quite thin and I don't think it is that well made but I only paid £5 for it so I can't really complain. I know I will get so much wear out of it.

Summer Primark Shop!- The Shorts (127)

I caved to the calls of Primark. I'm desperate for the summer so thought I would update my summer wardrobe and who can resist the Primark goodness at the minute. Sometimes I think Primark is the best place to go for anything on trend. It's always really stylish and it's so cheap my bank balance thanks me (although I end up just buying more)! It's always the first place I go when I want to update my wardrobe and get ready for the next season.

I bought a few things that I wanted to put in this post but it was so long. I figured the best way to do this would to be an item a day so you can enjoy five days of Primark goodness.

Let's start with the shorts shall we, oh the shorts. I'm all ready for summer and that really has influenced what I have been buying. I spotted these alone on a random rail and instantly fell in love with them. The downside, they were only a size 6 and there was no way I could squeeze into something that small. I couldn't see the rest of them anywhere, that was until I saw the display of shorts on the side of the escalator. There they were. I'm not going to lie, I got pretty excited.

They are seriously the most obnoxious, in your face, 80s style shorts and I really love them. At only £4 as well, they are definitely value for money. Although they aren't the thickest of material, they will be absolutely perfect for the summer months when I need to be cool. I think they will look great with just a plain white tee and a pair of sandals.

I also love the detailing on these...

Although they have an elasticated waist with a little tie with navy tassels on. I love that even the ties has the vertical stripes on.

Also the edging on these shorts is gorgeous. The simple navy edging really add a little something to the shorts.

There are also POCKETS. Not going to lie, there is little in life that thrills me more than a pocket, they're just so handy. It really is the little things in life.

I can't wait for summer now so I can wear these bad boys.

Catching up (Day 126)

Between exams and work I've had little time for anything else!

That includes this blog! At the start of the year I swore to put a post up everyday but I guess I've already blown that. I think it's important to change goals as you go along if you need to. Sometimes life gets in the way of what you want to do and it can take you in a completely different direction. I've been trying to balance my time but it has been really difficult. Hopefully in a few weeks, exams will be over and I'll be back on track again!

So I've decided that instead of punishing myself for not being able to get a post up everyday, my new goal is to put up 365 posts this years. That equals one for everyday of the year, they just might not be up on time!

I can't wait for exams to be over, everything will be better then!

Frolocking in the Daisy's (Day 125)

The sun is actually shining in Britain and it makes me so excited for the summer. The last few days I've been wearing shorts and trying to not get sun burnt so it's definitely a sign that summer is on its way. I was also so, so happy to see the Daisy's in the fields when walking the dog.

Daisy's are one of my favourite ever flowers (although technically they're weeds), they just always remind me of summer days making daisy chains in the sunshine. They are so whimsical and make me feel like I'm in some cheesy romance movie where I can just frolic through the fields without a care in the world.

Daisy's always remind me of being a kid again. Countless hours spent sat in fields making daisy chains with my Grandma or having picnics with my Mum. I would always pick the Daisies and give a bunch to my Mum because I thought they were so special. I think they still are special. Think about it, a Daisy is something nobody wants, everybody just steps on them and rips them apart but yet every year, they come back, they keep trying to be something special and to me, they will always be beautiful!

I'm totally ready for summer to be here properly!

The Best Cookies Ever! (Day 124)

I SERIOUSLY SWEAR BY THIS RECIPE.

Cookies are one of my favourite treats in the entire world. What's not to love really. Chocolaty, gooey cookies mmmm... It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I know they are so, so awful for you but do you know what, I don't really care.

Many years ago I found the best recipe for cookies on Vivianna Does Makeup. Since then Tanya Burr and Zoella have both features the recipes on their youtube channels. That's because they are so, so good and they really can't go wrong. Over the years, I've adapted these cookies to work for me and my family. These cookies are a hit with everyone I make these for. My family could easily eat all of them in a day. I've also used this recipe for bake sales and they always go down so well.  The best thing is they are so easy and quick to whip up. It seriously is a recipe I reach for time and time again!

All you need is: 200g of butter (margarine or 'fake' butter tend to work the best because it needs to be super soft), 300g caster sugar, 1 egg, 75g cocoa powder, 275g self- raising flour, white chocolate, milk chocolate, milk.

First thing first is to preheat the oven to 220°C for a fan oven or 200 °C for a non- fan oven. Next you need to soften the butter. I find by using either margarine or some sort of butter in a tub it makes things so much easier. If you use a block of butter, it's much, much harder to work with. Put the butter and sugar into a mixing bowl and cream together until creamy (use either a wooden spoon or a mixer). Next crack in the egg and mix again. Follow that by throwing in all the dry ingredients (you don't need to sieve the flour and cocoa powder). Break up the chocolate (add as much or as little as you want) and combine it all together. At this point the mixture is really dry so add in a bit more than a splash of milk so you can combine the mixture to be a little bit more sticky. Next just use a tablespoon to scoop out the mixture and pop onto a lined baking tray. Bare in mind that these cookies spread so you probably don't want to be putting anymore than six tablespoon sized scoops onto the tray. Whack them in the oven for 10 minutes and smell the delicious cookies baking. When you take them out they will be super sloppy and that is just how they should be. Put them aside for around 15- 2o minutes and you will be left with cookies that are gooey on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside.

It's that easy! They are so good as well. You can either eat these cold or what I like to do is pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds so they are warm and the chocolatey chunks melt again. I am warning you though, although they may not look like much, you will be addicted to these.

April Favourites (Day 123)

I feel like April went by in the blink of an eye. It was a really busy month with lots going on but I love staying busy so it has definitely been fun.

There have been some things I have been really loving though so it is definitely time for my April Favourites...

1. Make- up

A friend got me the Benefit 'Life of the Party' set for christmas and I love it. This month though, I've been really into the blush in it. The blush comes in the shades dandelion and rockateur and I've been combining the two to create a really pretty pink shade. It's a very girly, feminine pink that isn't too dark so it looks super natural with my skin tone.

2. Music

I've been really, really into a group called L.E.J. L.E.J are a female French trio that put covers of songs on YouTube. They went viral in 2015 when they posted a video of them doing a summer song mashup. I was obsessed with them last  year and I've become obsessed with them again. I've been watching some of their other videos as well and loving them. You can check them out here.

3. Beauty

In terms of beauty, I've been loving the Soap and Glory hand food. I always have really dry hands and so anything I can use to make them better I will use. I absolutely love this because it actually sorts the problem out and makes my hands feel soft and moisturised. I wrote a review of this product which you can check out here.

4. Miscellaneous

I have been absolutely obsessed with theses chocolate chip cookies from Aldi recently. They are only around 60p for a pack and they are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. They are absolutely full of chocolate chunks and are super crunchy and just delicious. They are really bad for you but great as a treat. They've been getting me through my revision.

5. Shop

I haven't really done a lot of shopping recently but I have just placed an order on ASOS. They have some really lovely summer pieces in and I am eagerly anticipating my order. I can't wait for the summer to come so I can wear all the lovely pieces I have bought.

April is done and dusted I guess, let's see what March brings.

Ready for May (Day 122)

May is here!

It's crazy that it's already May, this year is going by so fast. It really doesn't feel like May though, I mean it has been snowing in the UK. For me, May is going to be a really crazy month. I have seven uni exams to get through, as  well as work and prepping for something exciting I'm doing over the summer. It's going to be a little bit insane. May is normally quite a stressful month for me and to be honest I will be glad when it's over.

Let's just say I'm Swinging into Spring
My goals for May are to get through my exams and up my blogging game. I have some really exciting posts planned but finding the time to type them up and get them ready is probably going to be a little tricky. I'll do it though, I know I can.

So May is here. I'm ready for it!
